The canvas is strip-lined. There is a thick layer of varnish through which the UV light cannot fully penetrate though there appear to be areas of fluorescence, possibly retouching, mainly to the leaves of the large tree, to the centre by the steamer and to the leaves towards the right edge. There are lines of craquelure with associated retouching to the pale green tree in the centre of the foreground, visible under UK light. Apart from some minor paint losses to the extreme edges, probably due to frame-rubbing, this work is in good condition. Colours: Overall fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although slightly lighter in the original.
