The painting is in good condition. The board the canvas is laid upon is free from warping or cracks, but there are a few areas near the edge (upper left corner and upper right edge) where there are slight depressions on the medium, the contour of which is followed by the canvas. A professional restorer, however, can remove the canvas from the board. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals some scattered minor spots of retouching on the upper left corner and upper right, upper middle edge, and on the lower half of the painting. There is a diagonal retouching on the upper right, just above the horizon. The colours of the actual painting are less yellow-toned, the blue is brighter and the orange is stronger and more vermillion than orange in reality.
