The painting is in good condition, as is the canvas, which is clear and taut. Examination under ultraviolet light does reveal some minor general retouching, but they occur mostly around the edges and background (lower register and upper left quadrant). There are some spots on the head of the small figure and only a few small spots are present on on the main figure (left shoulder and sleeve). Retouchings are visible only with UV light. The paint layers are intact. The colours of the catalogue illustration are quite accurate.
