STRUCTURE The canvas has been lined. PAINT SURFACE The painting appears to be in good condition. There is an old, discoloured and dirty varnish overall however there does not appear to be any paint loss or damage to the canvas. ULTRAVIOLET Examination under ultraviolet light reveals one very small minor retouching, centre left, as well as signs of scattered old retouching below an opaque and discoloured varnish. FRAME held in a gilded wooden frame.
