Catalogue Note
Vlastimil Hofmann étudia tout d'abord à Cracovie dans l'atelier de Jacek Malczewski, avant de venir en 1899 étudier à Paris dans celui de Jean-Léon Gérôme. L'artiste a surtout vécu en Pologne mais, entre 1914 et 1920 il partage son temps entre Paris et Prague.
Il a exposé en 1920, deux oeuvres Sur la route et Les chanteurs de Noël, au Salon de la Société nationale des Beaux-Arts à Paris. Il est possible que Les chanteurs de Noël soit notre tableau.
