Condition
Industrial Location, San Francisco--This photograph is in generally very good to excellent condition. In the sky in the upper portion of the image, a horizontal area of the print is raised. Upon extremely close examination in raking light, there is a scattering of very minor surface scratches and a diagonal scuff in the upper-middle of the image.
On the reverse of the mount, the Polaroid Collection stamp has annotations 'Ansel Adams,' '11,' and 'L-1' in ink. The annotations 'Memo 1268' and '#F' are in ink on the reverse.
'No Parking Sign,'--This print, on paper with a surface sheen and mounted on Crescent illustration board, is in generally very good to excellent condition. This print and mount have undergone minor conservation, and a treatment report is available upon request. When examined in raking light, 3 impressions that do not break the emulsion are visible near the upper edge.
There is a Proof stamp on the reverse that reads: "PROOF. Not to be used for reproduction or display.'
Karen Haas's and Rebecca Senf's book, 'Ansel Adams in the Lane Collection,' publishes the most comprehensive list to date of the studio stamps and labels Adams used throughout his career. The authors' assessment of the use dates of stamps 5 and 6 on the reverse of the print's mount is 1962 to 1963.
