Condition
These prints are in generally excellent condition. There is a fine range of saturated colors and no apparent fading. The missing prints are 'Foxtail Grass' and 'Weeds in Rock Cracks'.
The corners of the mounts are bumped. On the reverse of the mount on the 'Polaroid Corporation' label, the photographer's name is spelled 'Elliott Porter'; the errant additional 'l' is crossed out in most cases.
'Maple Blossoms in a Woodland Pool' - There is a tiny chip along the middle of the top edge of the print. The upper mount corners are bumped and there is graphite-colored soiling along the bottom edge. On the reverse of the mount, the label was unevenly adhered.
'Rhodora'
'Aspens in Early Spring' - On the reverse of the mount there is fingerprint soiling, and the top ply has been sheered off in a small section.
'Eroded Rock' - There are two faint graphite marks on the lower portion of the mount. The corners of the mount are bumped.
'Ponderosa Pine' - Upon close examination, in the upper left corner of the print, there are two tiny deposits of a matte, brown-colored substance of indeterminate nature.
'Spruce Trees and River' - In high raking light, a barely noticeable vertical scratch that does not break the emulsion is visible along the middle right edge of the print.
'Yellow Aspens' - In high raking light, a few small negligible surface scratches or indentations are visible.
'Cypress Swamp' - In high raking light, a few small negligible surface scratches are visible. The lower left corner of the print is bumped.
'Snow and Grass' - There are stray graphite mark on the reverse of the mount.
'Snow on Sand Dunes' - In high raking light, a few areas of tiny pitting are visible in the sky.
The folio is in generally excellent condition. 'Eliot Porter The Season' is written in an unidentified hand in white ink along the spine. On the inside flap, '11/25/64 The Sierra Club $225.00' is written in an unidentified hand in ink.
