Description

  • Ansel Adams
  • EARLY COLOR WORK
  • Polacolor prints
a group of 4 unique Polacolor photographs, each inscribed with technical data in ink in the margin, flush-mounted, a printed Polaroid Corporation information label, credit in ink or pencil, on the reverse, circa 1963 (4)

Condition

Each of these photographs is in generally good condition. All have deckled lateral edges and are flush-mounted onto standard Polaroid stiff board mounts. The colors may have been muted somewhat by the passage of time, but they still deliver a surprising amount of pleasing color. Rocks and Sand – this print has perhaps the most muted appearance of the group. There are some fingerprints visible on the print's surface when it is viewed in raking light. Bay with Kelp – There is a fine 1-inch scratch in the upper left corner which does not break the emulsion and is only visible in raking light. A small portion of the margin is missing from the lower right corner. Inlet with Breaking Waves -- There are some fingerprints visible on the print's surface when it is viewed in raking light. A portion of the label on the reverse is missing. The Sea from the Hills – there is a small indentation in the upper left corner, not breaking the emulsion, and small circular deposit just below that are only visible when the print is examined in raking light. There is a small tear in the margin at the upper right, not affecting the image.
