Description

- 'BLACK TRIPTYCH'
- polaroid prints
a triptych of unique large-format Polaroid Polacolor prints, one signed and dated in ink on the image, 1979 (William Wegman Polaroids, pp. 12-13, Funney/Strange, p. 107, and William Wegman, pp. 72-3, all variants) (3)
Condition
These Polaroid prints are in generally excellent condition. The colors are deep, dark, and rich, with no apparent fading. The orientation of the prints is annotated in an unidentified hand in ink on the reverse of the prints. Also on the reverse, there is light rust-colored staining along the left and right edges.
Right: The bottom right corner of the print is bent.
Middle: In raking light, a few superficial linear surface scratches are visible. In the lower margin of the print, there is a soft ¾-inch crease that does not break the emulsion.
Left: In the lower left corner of the image, there is a one-inch linear crease that does not break the emulsion. Along the lower right edge of the image, there is a small disturbance in the surface, which likely occurred during the printing process.
