Condition

Stone Carving of Face: In the left quadrant of the image near the sitters chin, a pen-point-sized white accretion is visible. In raking light, an unevenness in the glossy surface is visible, which is typical of such Polaroid prints. On the reverse of the print, there are thin abraisons to the top paper ply and light rust-colored staining along the edges. 'Cemetery Angel, Olena, California' - The mat is signed in pencil by Adams. Karen Haas's and Rebecca Senf's book, 'Ansel Adams in the Lane Collection,' publishes the most comprehensive list to date of the studio stamps and labels Adams used throughout his career. Although the authors' assessment of the use dates of stamp 11 on the reverse of the print's mount is 1973 to 1977, this print is dated 1976. Stone Carving of Flower - In raking light, a small crescent-shaped crease not breaking the emulsion is visible in the upper portion of the image. On the reverse of the print, there is light rust-colored staining along the edges, likely from prior adhesive.
