Condition
These gelatin silver prints, on paper with a slight surface sheen, are in generally good to very good condition.
Charles Sheeler - this print is from a copy negative of a Type 20 print. It is on a cream-colored mount that is signed in pencil. In the lower left corner of the front of the mount, it has been titled in pencil by the photographer and annotated '#2 Kodak royal Pan - from 4x5 Ty/N 20' in ink by him. In raking light, the following are visible: tiny indentations not breaking the emulsion; tiny deposits of original retouching; and a very small, slightly raised area at the upper right corner. The mount is lightly soiled on the front and somewhat moreso on the reverse. On the reverse of the mount, there is a liquid deposit of indeterminate nature in the upper portion.
Clarence Kennedy - This print, on paper with a surface sheen, has been flush-mounted to heavy board and mounted again to heavy cream-colored board. It is in generally good condition. The edges are slightly rubbed, and there are tiny emulsion losses. When examined in raking light, the following are visible: 2 shallow linear indentations that do not break the emulsion; faint scratches that do not break the emulsion; light scuffing at the lower edge; and a pencil-point disruption in the area of the sitter's forehead that appears to have been retouched. Ther mount is lightly soiled. There is minor rubbing and age-darkening at the periphery. A small remnant of double-sided tape is affixed at the left side. On the reverse, there is a Polaroid Collection stamp with credit, number '45,' and 'M-1' in ink. Additionally, the photograph has been credited and titled, with the negative number and photographer's address in an unidentified hand in pencil on the reverse. The reverse of the mount is soiled, with fingerprints near the edges, and light staining.
Roger Kent - This print, on double weight paper with a slight surface sheen, is in generally good condition. The edges are rubbed, and there are tiny losses. The upper and lower left corners are creased. When examined in raking light, the following are visible: soft creases that do not break the emulsion and 3 small creases that appear to break the emulsion at the center right; and 2 pinpoint accretions.
