Condition
This early print is in generally fair condition. A cracquelure is visible overall, as are surface scratches and rust-colored liquid staining and deposits of indeterminate nature. There are 2 gauges in the upper right quadrant and in the lower portion of the image. Visible upon close examination, 'Mick' and 'A' is annotated in white crayon 11 times in the central portion of the image.
The back of the flushmount is dated 'June 1st/79' and reads, 'Dear j & a., this authentic collector's item Has to grace Shagger's walls - ! It was inscribed by Mick and shat on by a bird (in the house) THEN my bush baby decided to make it HIS shelf + exclusive territory - Hence all the pissed-on-paw prints + BB shit - "full fathom five - to have suffered a sea-change into something rich + strange".' This is signed with hearts 'Peter Beard.'
On the reverse of the frame backboard, there is extensive rust-colored liquid staining. The inscription by Peter Tunney reads: 'Shag [underlined] Aug 2, 2000 A. D., Dear Jimmy, Thanks for the loan, hope you like the frame - Best, P. T. T.'. The reverse is also annotated 'Vintage Mick Jagger.'
