Description

- 'MINAMATA - TOMOKO AND MOTHER'
- Gelatin silver
signed with a stylus on the image, mounted, signed and titled in pencil on the mount, 1972 (Minamata, pp. 138-9)
Condition
This print, on paper with a surface sheen and mounted to heavy cream board, is in generally very good to excellent condition. The upper edge of the print is slightly rubbed.
When examined in high raking light, the following are visible: the photographer's signature, made with a stylus, in the lower left corner of the print; three minor raised mounting areas that have resulted in very soft creases and are only subtly visible; very slight silvering at the periphery of the print; and two very small areas of original retouching.
The mount has several very pale rust-colored deposits of indeterminate nature on the lower portion of the mount that are only visible upon the closest inspection.
This image is also reproduced in Johnson 36:052, 'Photographs,' p. 312, and 'Let Truth Be the Prejudice,' p. 235.
