Martin Munkacsi began his tenure photographing for Harper's Bazaar in November 1933. The photograph offered here comes from a sitting for the December 1936 issue. This impressive early print, on double-weight paper with a semi-glossy surface, is in generally excellent condition. There is occasional wear at the edges, and the corners are lightly bumped or creased. On the reverse of the print is light graphite-colored soiling and a thin 1½-inch area of glossy liquid staining that does not affect the recto of this image.
