Condition

The plates, listed below, are in generally excellent condition, except where noted. 'Bal Musette, 1932' - In raking light, a half-inch linear raised area is visible in the lower right quadrant. ''Bijou' of Montmartre, 1932' - Uneven silvering is visible at the periphery of the print. In raking light, a small matte deposit, possibly retouching, is visible in the lower right quadrant. 'Staircase in Montmartre, 1932' 'Girl Playing Snooker, Montmartre, 1933' 'Avenue de L'Observatoire, 1934' 'Portrait of Picasso with Stove, 1939' 'Market Porter, Les Halles, 1939' - In high raking light, the following are visible: the upper left corner is creased and, in the lower left quadrant, a very small linear raised area is visible, both of which likely occurred prior to or during dry-mounting. 'Matisse with his Model, 1939' 'Gala Soirée at Maxim's, 1949' - On the reverse of the mount, there is graphite-colored soiling. 'Hospice de Beaune, 1951' - On the reverse of the mount, there is graphite-colored soiling. The slip case is rubbed at the extremities and there are stray brown marks on the cover. The printed text includes a biography, a foreward by the photographer, and an introduction by A. D. Coleman.
