Description
- Jared French
- 'TENNESSEE W.' (NUDE STUDY)
- gelatin silver print
signed, dated, and inscribed 'Tennessee W' in pencil, the sitter's last name completed 'Williams' in ink, and a Paul Cadmus collection label on the reverse, 1943
Condition
This photograph is on stout double-weight paper with a glossy surface. It has a pleasing warm/green tonality and is in very good condition. There is a triangular loss in the center of the top edge of the print, measuring about 3mm on each side. In raking light some inconsequential indentations can be seen in the print's surface. The edges are somewhat worn. The hair-like shape in the upper right quadrant of the image is not a defect in the present print, but may instead be due to a feature of the negative. Paul Cadmus's collection stamp is in purple ink.
