Condition

'Cedric, '1977- This print, on paper with a surface sheen, is signed, dated, and dedicated 'For Cedric' by the photographer in ink in the margin. It is in generally very good condition. In raking light, the following are visible: several slightly raised areas at the left side that likely occurred during mounting; and 2 crescent-shaped creases (also at the left side of the print) that do not break the emulsion. The edges are slightly rubbed, and there is light soiling in the margins. 'Torso, ' 1980 - This print, on matte-surface paper, is signed, dated and editioned '1/15' in ink in the margin. There is age-darkening at the margin edges, which are rubbed. The margin corners are bumped and creased. There is a copyright/reproduction rights stamp on the reverse, which is signed and dated by Mapplethorpe. The print is numbered (MAP) '477' and '1/15' in pencil on the reverse. There is also light soiling at the reverse, particularly at the perimeter. 'Phillip Prioleau, N. Y. C.' (on a Pedestal, forward-facing), 1979 - This print, on matte-surface paper, has been signed, dated, and dedicated 'For Phillip' by the photographer in ink in the margin. It is in generally good to very good condition. There is age-darkening at the edges, which are rubbed. The margin corners are bumped and creased. On the reverse, there are tape remains at the center of the upper and lower edges. 'Phillip Prioleau, N. Y. C.'
