Description
- Robert Mapplethorpe
- 'DOUBLE JACK-IN-THE-PULPIT'
- dye-transfer print
dye-transfer print, flush-mounted, title, date, and edition '7/7' in ink and the photographer's estate stamp, signed and dated by Michael Ward Stout, Executor, in ink, on the reverse, 1988 (Complete Flowers, pl. 183)
Condition
This vibrant print is in generally excellent condition. Its colors are saturated, with no apparent fading. Upon extremely close examination, a few tiny deposits of original retouching are visible in the lower portion of the print, primarily in the green areas of the flowers. The lower right margin corner is slightly bent, which likely occurred prior to dry-mounting. In the upper right margin corner are the following notations in an unidentified hand in graphite: '2' (circle) and 'I5A.'
On the reverse of the mount, 'DT 1880' is written in an unidentified hand in pencil.
