Catalogue Note
Completed in 1960, Composition No.25 is typical of Chu Teh-Chun's early period in Paris. Chu creates texture and space from the juxtaposition of dark green and blue-green squares, with thick, black calligraphic strokes that seemingly dance on the paper. The acute contrast between light and dark also creates depth, while the powerful brushstrokes evoke and express the artist's passion for life and art. Chu Teh-Chun often names his works with titles that are akin to music. This composition is not only marked by an innate rhythm but also the artist's heartfelt and sincere anthem of life.
