Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is richer and deeper with greater surface impasto in the original. Condition: This work is in good condition. There is some evidence of light wear around the extreme edges. There are several networks of light craquelure scattered in places throughout the composition, most notably in the top right quadrant. There is a small canvas protrusion at the centre of the right edge, and a further pin head-sized protrusion at the upper centre of the left edge. There is a light transparent drip mark towards the lower left corner on the lower extreme edge. Around the upper and lower sections of the composition, some discolouration to the pigment has resulted in light mottling to the surface. Light surface dust fibres have collected in few of the crevices in the central impasto section. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultra-violet light.
