8 volumes, 12mo (6 1/4 x 3 1/2 in.; 160 x 90 mm). 30 full-page engravings, woodcut vignette on title-pages, printer's ornaments, woodcut intiials and head- and tail pieces throughout; washed and pressed, with some residual toning and browning throughout, lower right corner in 6:P7 extended, vol. 7 trimmed along right margin. Modern quarter russet morocco, marbled boards, spines lettered gilt, plain endpapers, edges gilt. Quarter russet morocco folding case, spine lettered gilt.

First illustrated and first complete edition prepared after Molière's death by his fellow actors, Vinot and Lagrange. Six plays appear in this edition for the first time: "Dom Garcia de Navarre"; "L'Impromptu de Versailles";" Don Juan ou le festin de Pierre"; "Melicerte"; "Les Amours magnifiques"; and "La Comtesse d'Escartagnas." The engravings depicting some scenes from Molière's own theater.
