Catalogue Note

First edition, the earliest American account of West Florida, which evidently led to the growing interest within the U.S. government to acquire this territory from Spain. Washington appointed Ellicott to survey the land and draw the borders between the United States and Spanish Florida through forests, swamps, bayous, and rivers.
