First edition, inscribed by Mitchell, "For Minna Loudon / Margaret Mitchell" on front blank. An enormous success, selling a million copies by December, 1936, it went on to win the Pulitzer Prize and increased its hold on the public imagination with the 1939 Oscar-winning adaptation starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh.
