Description
- Portrait of a Girl with a Pearl Necklace
- oil on canvas, in a 17th century frame
Condition
This canvas has been relined. The paint surface has been slightly flattened and there is extensive craquelure throughout. The surface is stable but dirty. Under UV, there is an old, thick varnish. Retouches on top of this layer address old abrasion along the edges and also infill of the craquelure in the figure's face, neck and decolletage. The picture could be cleaned and restored to present a fresher image. In an elaborate wooden inlaid frame with foliate scroll decoration.
