Condition
Work is in very good condition. Canvas is not lined. Surface is clean. There are fine lines of stable cracking scattered through the darker pigments in the upper quadrants of the composition; visible only in raking light. Red pigments in the lower right quadrant show signs of shrinkage. Vertical and horizontal stretcher bar marks are faintly visible. Under UV light: There is a single stroke of inpainting at the figure's upper right shoulder, which corresponds to a dime size spot of repair on the reverse. Otherwise fine; certain original pigments fluoresce but no further inpainting is apparent.
