Condition
This painting is well stretched and the stretcher seems to be original. The canvas is unlined and although some cracking and slight distortion has occurred, the paint layer is still stable. The painting is visibly dirty and the varnish has become opaque in the darker colors of the still life.
There are a couple of small retouches in the lower right background and in the top of the orange on the book on the right side, but in general there are very few retouches visible under ultraviolet light. The issue here is that the painting is quite dirty and it would change remarkably if cleaned. However, cleaning these kinds of pictures sometimes presents a challenge and a restorer should be consulted before purchasing the painting.
