Description
- gold, silver, diamond, ring
Set in the center with a rose-cut diamond measuring approximately 13.25 by 11.54 mm., framed by rose-cut diamonds, size 4½.
Condition
Purportedly formerly from a collection of rose-cut diamonds belonging to Maximilian of Austria, Emperor of Mexico from 1864 - 1867. Accompanied by photocopy of a letter of authenticity from Hammer Galleries, as well as a photocopy of a photograph showing a collection of rose-cut diamond cluster rings such as the one offered here. Shank stamped 35, underplate stamped No. 35 6½ K. Impossible to estimate size of center rose-cut diamond due to a closed back, but judging from the engraving on the underplate stating 61/2 K, we surmise that the stone may be in the 6.50 carat range. The diamonds are approximately K-L color, (with a brown tint) and are SI-I clarity. Some abrasions to the facet junctions and light chipping to the girdles of the diamonds. Heavily tarnished on the silver parts and slight discoloration to the gold shank and undergallery, but in good condition overall.

Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
