Provenance

Acquired directly from the A✃rtist by T. L. Johnson in the late 1950s

Condition

Original canvas. There is some very minor paint separation to the maroon pigment extending from the upper edge. There is also some minor paint separation and craquelure to the vertical strip of impasto in the lower right quadrant, with one small section of blue pigment missing. The surface is slightly dirty, with some minor spots of staining to the black pigment in the bottom right corner, and may benefit from a light clean; otherwise the work appears in good original condition. Under ultraviolet light there appear to be no signs of retouching. Held in gilt-wood frame with a canvas inset.
