Description

  • Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione called Il Grechetto
  • a bearded Man wearing a turban
  • oil on canvas, octagonal

Provenance

Private Collection, Genoa.

Condition

The tone of the original is a little less yellow than it appears in the catalogue illustration. The canvas has an old relining and the paint surface is secure and in good condition with thick chunks of impasto under a dirty varnish. Inspection under UV light is impeded by the aforementioned varnish although some minor retouchings do fluoresce. Offered in an octagonal gilt wood frame in good condition with some minor losses.
