Description

  • A still life of song birds, a peacock and rabbits on a ledge with a pumpkin, a cabbage, a cauliflower, celery, mushrooms and grapes
  • oil on canvas, unframed

Provenance

William Cox, 57 Pall Mall, London;
His sale, London, Christie's, 8-9 February 1884, probably lot 51 ( as Snyders) for 5 gns. to Marville;
Anonymous sale, London, Christie's, 4 April 1986, lot 59 (as attributed to Jacob van de Kerckhoven) where acquired by the present owner.

Condition

The canvas has been relined. The paint surface is secure under a glossy yellowed varnish. There are a number of surface scratches on top of the varnish.
