Catalogue Note
The composition of this picture, like those of the preceding lots, almost certainly derives from Marten van Cleve.1 While Pieter Brueghel the Younger made his own variants of it, this picture is very close in style and composition to a painting once given to Brueghel, but which as Ertz suggests, is a direct derivation from Van Cleve.2
