Condition

The flat, stable support appears to consist of a single horizontal panel, cradled to the reverse. The paint surface is secure and in good condition, with much of the detail of the painting well preserved. No major damages are apparent. Inspection under UV light is impeded by the reflective varnish covering the work but does reveal retouching to the upper reaches of the sky, but less extensive scattered spot retouchings and strengthenings to the foreground. Offered in an ornate gilt wood and plaster frame in good condition, if a little rubbed.
