Description
- Madonna and Child
- oil on panel, unframed
Condition
The tone of the original is less yellow than it appears in the catalogue illustration.
The support consists of a single, stable panel with a old slight convex bow and a single horizontal baton affixed to the reverse.
The paint surface is generally well preserved and secure with some very minor scattered old losses under a dirty old yellowed varnish, the most notable loss being 1 cm squared in the Virgin's headdress as visible in the catalogue illustration. Numerous though minor scattered old retouchings are visible to the naked eye and these are confirmed under UV light which is generally impeded by the varnish.
Offered in an ornate carved gilt wood frame in good condition with some minor losses.
