bidding is closed
Description
- a kitchen interior with a chef and his assistant surrounded by meats and cooking instruments, a fireplace to the right
- oil on canvas, unframed
Provenance
Anonymous sale, London, Christie's, 7 July 1995 lot 96 (as Italian School, 17th Century), where acquired by the present owner for £90,000.
Condition
Given the large scale of this canvas the painting is in very good condition. The canvas has been relined. The paint surface is secure with frequent passages of well preserved impasto. There is a small L shaped restored damage upper right approx 5 by 5 cm. Inspection under UV light confims the aforementioned restored damage and reveals some old retouchings to the darks of the background and some recent more minor scattered retouchings and small strengthenings.
Offered unframed.
