Catalogue Note
Henriette Haussmann was the daughter of Jean (or Johannes) Haussmann, an industrialist from Augsburg, and Barbara Haussmann, née Gräfin von Schüle. She married Daniel Dollfus (1761-1834) in 1789.
Urlaub came from a family of painters from Franconia. He subsequently became Court Painter to the Electors in Mainz, but in 1779 he was recorded in Augsburg, where this portrait was presumably painted.
