Woodcut printed in ochre and black, 1899, the chiaroscuro effect is produced by the imposition of the second (final) state printed in black over the impression of the first state (of two) printed in brown, numbered 23 in black ink verso, from an edition of approximately 30, cited in Kornfeld where he only records 19 impressions with this chiaroscuro effect, printed by the artist in Tahiti, on thin Japon pelure

Condition
Printed to the edges at sides with margins elsewhere, in good condition apart from a short diagonal crease at right corners, other slight creasing due to nature of the paper, framed.
