Catalogue Note
"After the war Atget made a habit of visiting Montmartre on mornings in the early spring, when the trees were still bare, the light fragile, and the streets deserted. He photographed the Place du Tertre under these conditions on two seperate occasions in 1922 [offered here] and again in 1924." (The Work of Atget. Vol. II, p. 186)
