Catalogue Note
This photograph is a composite picture built like a mosaic where the meanings are linked together. The viewer recognises works by Man Ray, such as the box of glass in the lower left, containing a broken clock L'Inquiétude, 1920, the bronze sculpture in the centre By Itself; 1918 and in the background the work L'Impossibilité, 1920, depicting a gear mechanism which is impossible to work due to the position of the wheels. It bears the word Dancer suggesting a circular movement as in a dance.
Dancer-Danger works in two differe𓆏nt ways: it is a work in itself as well as mosaic of other works by Man Ray.
