Description

  • Irving Penn
  • 'CECIL BEATON'
  • platinum palladium print
platinum-palladium print, flush-mounted to aluminum, signed, titled, dated, annotated, and editioned '1/15' in pencil and stamped on the reverse, framed, 1958, printed in April 1977 (Moments Preserved, p. 85; Platinum Prints, pl. 25)

Condition

This print, on BF 360 paper, is in generally excellent condition. At the margin edges, there are thin, irregular rust-colored areas, possibly a result of the print's adhesion to aluminum. On the reverse there are two square abrasions to the top paper ply along the upper edge. This print bears the 'Les Editions Conde Nast S. A.' copyright stamp. The edition stamp on the reverse indicates that in addition to the 15 numbered prints in platinum, there may also exist up to 15 numbered prints in gelatin silver. '1285' is written and circled in pencil on the reverse of the print.
