- gelatin silver
ferrotyped, signed and dated in pencil on the reverse, framed, 1975 (Pennsylvania Coal Mine Tipples, cover)
Condition
This ferrotyped print, on Agfa paper trimmed to the image, is in generally very good condition. As is frequently seen with ferrotyped prints, occasional pitting of the glossy surface is visible overall. On the reverse of the print, there is scattered foxing. In the light areas of the image, primarily in the sky, foxing on the reverse of the print is faintly visible. Along the lower left edge, there is a 1/4-inch crease that does not break the emulsion. In the lower left quadrant, there is a particle of dust adhered to the surface, which likely occurred during the ferrotyping process.
On the reverse of the frame, there is a Gitterman Gallery, New York, label, with typed credit, title, and date.
The catalogue illustration crops the top edge of the image too tightly. In the actual photograph, there is space between the very top of the structure and the top edge of the print.
