Description
- ebony, silver, leather, gold, silver, hardstone
octagonal, the bloodstone matrix engraved on one side with the Arms of Archduke Ferdinand of Austria and consort, the reverse with his cipher, width 2.7cm, 1 1/8 in, in original case; a faceted crystal seal with scrolled silver mounts, engraved with the Arms of Bourbon-Parma, the top with the cipher of Elias, Duke of Parma (1810-1959), 5.3cm, 2 1/8 in, in case stamped for : Franz Hiess & Söhne, Vienna; and an ebony desk seal, the metal matrix engraved with a full achievement of arms, 8.7cm, 3 3/8 in, case stamped for: Agry, 14 rue Castiglione, Paris
Provenance
Archduke Ferdinand of Austria (1793-1875), later Emperor Ferdinand I of Austria, Apostolic King of Hungary, King of Bohemia, reigned from 1835 until his abdication in 1848. He married in 1831, Princess Maria Anna of Savoy (1803-1884), daughter of King Victor Emmanuel I of Sardinia.
Condition
All very good condition although would each benefit from professional cleaning. The cases are time worn.
