Description
- Ivory and lacquer
the cover decorated with two falconers, one holding a bird in his left hand, beneath a tree in a landscape, the sides decorated with iris, chrysanthemum and prunus, on four shishi feet
Condition
Although the shibayama decoration on the box is in excellent condition the actual box is slightly warped presumably because of sunlight or dry heat. As a result of this it does not sit completely squarely on the four shishi feet. Also, although the lid fits perfectly onto the base, there is gaping between the lid panel and the rim at each side as the lid panel itself has become slightly raised at each end. Otherwise the ivory base of the lid would benefit from cleaning as it is a little dusty.
