- Pendant width 4cm, 1 1/2 in, miniature width 1.5cm, 5/8 in, in original case
the pendant later inset with a miniature of the infant Luisa, Princess of Lucca, on a granular ground, the reverse chased with jewelled two-colour gold vine tendrils, hung with three hearts, on chain with two matching pendent earrings
Provenance
Accompanying the case is a note inscribed in a 19th century hand: 'Pendeloque 𒆙con / miniatura della Pssa / Luisa di Lucca morta / bambina figlia del Duce / Carlo Ludovico di Lucca'.
Luisa, first child and only daughter of Charles II, Duke of Parma, and his wife Princess Maria🍸-Theresa of Savoy, was bor⛦n on 29 October 1821 and died on 8 September 1823.
Condition
Lining of case stained in places; Central pendant with hinged compartment. Approximate weight 38.6gr. Traces of dirt under glazed compartment containing miniature portrait. Facetted gemstones with scratches and nicks consistent with wear.
One earring with surmount deficient
Associated trace link chain.
Could benefit from attention by a professional jeweller.

The pendant is set with a Rub🃏y, Peridot, Turquoise/Odontolite, Turquoise/Odontolite, and Amethyst; the hearts with two Emeralds and an Opal, perhaps forming the initials of a commemorative motto.
