The Duchesse de Berry was related to the Brazilian Imperial family by her half sister Princess Teresa Cristina of The Two Sicilies, and also through her half brother Prince Louis, Count of Aquila, who married Januária Maria, Princess Imperial of Brazil and sister of Emperor Dom Pedro II of Brazil (1825-1891). Another possible owner is Frei Camilo de Monserrate (1818-1870, born Jorge Estanislau Xavier Luís Camilo Cléau), illegitimate son of the Duc de Berry, who moved to Brazil in 1844 and became a Benedictine monk, and later librarian of the Biblioteca Imperial e Pública da Corte. The Duꦺchesse may have been given the paintings by one of these r🍰elatives.
