- Study of a figure taken from the Laocoön
- Black chalk;
signed, dated and inscribed in brown ink, lower right: Prima menzione onoverole / Artari Alessandro. / 3. agosto 1853. and bears faint numbering in pencil, lower left: 2.
Condition
Artari:
Sold in a modern gilded frame. The paper is slightly yellowed. There is a repaired tear across the lower left corner, a small tear at the uppermost hand of the figure, and what appear to be some tiny repaired holes near the lower centre. The chalk still strong.
Sassella:
Sold in a heavy wooden frame. There are losses to the upper left corner and holes at each of the other corners. Also some scattered worm holes across the sheet, the largest (1cm across) on the figure's left shoulder. Some nicks to the right edge and creases to the left edge. The surface is somewhat abraded in parts and with some spotting.
