Catalogue Note

Placide Poussielgue-Rusant specialised in religious silver, taking inspiration mainly from Viollet-Le-Duc's drawings and archeological records. From 1851, he presented his silver pieces in all the universal exhibitions for which he won several gold medals. He was considered to be the French leading silversmith for religious items.
