Catalogue Note

In Hug completed in 2002, a father and a daughter are hugging each other, as if the daughter is showing how much she appreciates her father's hard work on the field.🅘 Luo Zhongli uses painting knives to create thickly textured effects, conveying a sense of movement in this work. The farmer's hands that are holding the girl are full of calluses ♌and are disproportionately large, which signifies a profound and loving relationship between a father and his daughter. With their eyes closed and their sunburned cheeks, the two figures appear as though they have personalities on their own and could walk off the canvas. When viewing this painting, we can feel the warmth of their love.
