Catalogue Note
The poster 🐠of the Chinese door god and the portrait image of the leader mark the time of the artist's life; the girl's braided hair and red top are memories of his lover; at the corner that could be easily ignored, a photo of the artist himself is subtly attached to the back of the mirror. In this work, Wang Yidong delicately portrays a girl he misses in an implicit way. A movie ticket on the table perfectly deciphers why the girl is focused on plaiting her hair. The viewer can see Wang's detailed arrangement in this simple composition, which leaves more room for our imagination.
