Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality of the paper is slightly lighter in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. The visible sheet is one side of a folio leaf folded in half, which has deckled edges and is hinged to the mount at the top corners. Very close inspection reveals there is very light artist's smudging towards the bottom right corners as visible in the catalogue illustration.

Catalogue Note

"Lucian Freud's feeling for horses goes far back into childhood. At D🙈artington School in the 1930s he w💎ould sleep in the stables with the animals. 'I used to love to do that and rode a great deal...LF has a conception of life that embraces the human and the animal as two aspects of the same thing"
