Catalogue Note

The "J.J." circular stamp also appears in several of the volumes in the Joyce library housed at the Harry Ransom Center, University of Texas. Slocum and Cahoon note the first gathering as a unsigned group of eight leaves. It appears, however, that a conjugate pair of leaves (comprising the fourth and fifth leaves of the book) were tipped in on the sixth leaf. This conjugate pair is loose in this copy and shows no signs of binding thread holes.
